Meet the Director
Allison Bell, M. Ed.
Founder & Director
Allison Bell is a career educator and teacher leader with over a decade of experience teaching 1,000+ children in a wide range of educational settings. She has a Master's Degree in Reading Education from the University of Virginia with a focus in Adolescent Literacy and a Bachelor's Degree from Duke University in English and History.
An Americorps alumna, she served for nine years as a public school teacher for elementary and middle school students, teaching English, History, and Reading. During her career in public schools, she acted as a Department Chair, Team Leader, and Literacy Council Co-Chair. She also has experience as a high school debate coach, primary grades literacy tutor, and academic summer enrichment instructor.
Allison is passionate about providing an inclusive learning experience, and has extensive training on equitable, culturally representative teaching practices. She also has experience teaching students with differing learning needs and multilingual students. She is a tech-savvy online educator, and has conducted training sessions for teachers on high-quality, engaging Zoom-based instruction.
Allison currently volunteers for the Bay Area writing organization 826 Valencia, and she is writing a children's novel called "The Crazy Cozy Animal Sanctuary." She lives in Oakland, CA with her dog Hunter, who makes occasional appearances in her online classes when he is not too busy with other plans.
